Eindhoven Marathon 2011 turned blue

9. October 2011 was is a day to remember. For the twentieth time in succession De Lage Landen is sponsoring Eindhoven Marathon. It is one of the most important running events in the region of Eindhoven, the hometown of  De Lage Landen’s Corporate Center. 
 
DLLFanzone
A record number of almost 600 runners, dressed in De Lage Landen Blue runner outfits, joined the race. For the first time in our marathon history a special DLLFanzone was built in the street next to our headquarters. Business relations, colleagues of  our mother company Rabobank , De Lage Landen employees and family and friends of our runners supported the runners in a great ambiance. This first role out was, despite the weather, a good spin off  and shows potention to build out this concept in the future. During the day we had about 500 guests who enjoyed supporting the runners from our DLLFanzone.

Race records
As cherry on the cake in a sportive way, many personal records were broken yesterday, even the race record of Marathon Eindhoven. Jafred Chirchir Kipchunba won Marathon Eindhoven yesterday in  2.05.48, a time that is talked about throughout the World as only 6 runners have run faster this year. The marathon for woman was won by Georgina Rono from Kenia in a new race record of 2.24.33.

Local involvement
By sponsoring the marathon and creating a DLLFanzone we intend to create the right feeling around our brand. It also helps us to express about our local involvement to the city of Eindhoven. The success of this year contributes to and builds our believe in the ambitious long term goals in our collaboration with the Foundation of Marathon Eindhoven. In the coming years we want the  Marathon Eindhoven to become the fastest, most promising and in the end the most prominent runners event in the Netherlands.
