Eco effectiveness
We recognize and measure the impact of our organization on the environment, and are committed to reduce this “environmental footprint.” Reducing our impact on climate change is one of our key goals and we have set ambitious reduction targets on our direct and indirect carbon emissions, realized through a combination of resource optimization, behavioral change, and technological innovation. We are upgrading our two global headquarters to meet internationally recognized green building standards. We also offer our staff an inspiring and eco-efficient working environment.
In 2009 our executive board has requested all our countries to reduce the CO2 footprint with 20 % per FTE in 2014. Decentralized CO2 reduction plans have been implemented which aim to increase energy efficiency, enhance the flexibility of our employees mobility, decrease flight movements (via videoconference or “smarter” travelling) and reduce paper usage.
CO2 efficient offices
For our current US head office in Wayne, Pennsylvania we are in the process to achieve LEED certification. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification is a set of voluntary performance standards which aim to maximize operational efficiency of buildings, while minimizing environmental impacts.
Currently we are refurbishing our global head office in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. Hereby we pursue BREAAM certification.
In many countries we are renting office spaces which are part of a bigger structure. In the UK and in Denmark we recently moved our activities towards more eco efficient premises.
Athlon Sustainable Mobility Plan
With so many of its lease vehicles on the road, Athlon Car Lease accounts for a lot of traffic and a considerable emission of CO2. Athlon takes responsibility to help provide structural solutions for the adverse effects. Therefore, Athlon Car Lease has developed the Athlon Sustainable Mobility Plan, a 5 step plan to keep the Netherlands sustainable and accessible.
Athlon also offers a Green Car Solution. Employees without a lease vehicle can lease a super efficient vehicle at a low price. This helps companies to reduce considerably the overall CO2 footprint of their organisation.
