True partnership lies at the heart of our business. And in order to serve our global business partners to the best degree, strong connection amongst our 5,000+ members worldwide is a must.
The Clipper Race philosophy of working together as one team to achieve something extraordinary, perfectly reflects what De Lage Landen stands for. And through our participation in this, we have found a unique platform to engage all our members in an inspiring way to connect on a global scale.
However, this is more than just putting our name on a yacht. This is a partnership. Not only will our yacht sail around the world, it will carry on board our very own DLL members together with 42 others they form an international crew. Together, they will embark on an 11 month journey across the globe, pulling into 13 of our country locations.
Our yacht “De Lage Landen Embraces the World” began her journey from Southampton UK on 31st July. Over the next 11 months, she will travel onto Brazil, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, China, USA, Canada, Ireland and the Netherlands.
In total there are 10 yachts entering this race, all of them identical (68-foot) with the same equipment on board. The only difference between them therefore, is the people on board.
Following an intensive training, our crew consists of 9 members from De Lage Landen, and people from all over the world to form a crew of 18 per leg. There are 51 crew members in total. Our skipper Stuart Jackson is a 35 year old professional from Britain, who will lead the crew across this incredible journey of a lifetime.
